Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kasım Han
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kasım Han graduated from TED Ankara College in 1987.
In addition to his academic work, Prof. Dr. Han has held key roles at the intersection of strategic advisory, executive leadership, and global thought leadership. He serves as Vice President of the Board of Trustees at TED University in Ankara, affiliated with the Turkish Education Association (TED), and as Vice Rector at Beykoz University in Istanbul, where he is also a faculty member in the Department of International Relations in English, Faculty of Social Sciences.
Prof. Han actively contributes to discussions on economics, foreign policy, and energy geopolitics in Turkey and the MENA region through interviews and opinion pieces in leading international and domestic media, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, BBC, Al Jazeera, Der Spiegel, and The Economist. Over his career spanning more than three decades, he has participated in nearly 1,000 interviews.
He has held high-level academic and administrative roles, including Vice Rector, Dean, Department Chair, and advisor to Rectors and Boards of Trustees at Aydın, Altınbaş, and Kadir Has Universities. He directed the Research Center for Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University and served as a faculty member in the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University and the MBA programs at Istanbul Bilgi University.
Prof. Han is also Vice President and Chair of Academic Research at the Turkish Democracy Foundation and a board member at the Center for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies (EDAM). He serves as academic coordinator of the Political Leadership Excellence Program, a joint initiative of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and EDAM.
In defense and strategic studies, he served as Adjunct Professor of Strategy at the Atatürk Institute for Strategic Studies (Turkish National Defense University) until 2020 and as academic advisor at the Armed Forces Joint Operations Higher Command and Control Academy. He currently works as a Senior Research Fellow on the Middle East and North Africa at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan.
Prof. Han completed his undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and post-doctoral studies in economics, international relations, strategy, finance, and negotiation strategies at Istanbul, Boğaziçi, Koç, and Harvard Universities, and has been a visiting lecturer at the Center for Syrian Studies, University of St. Andrews, and Moshe Dayan Center, Tel Aviv University. He was recognized as one of the “Fifteen Young Leaders of Europe” by the U.S. Department of State in 2003 and received scholarships for studies on Israel and the Middle East.
Prof. Han frequently speaks at global conferences on international order, strategic studies, Middle Eastern and Turkish politics, energy geopolitics, political economy, and risk management, and has provided consultancy to national and international organizations across 10+ sectors. He has delivered lectures and seminars in over 50 countries and offers training in strategic thinking, negotiation, and political-economic risk analysis.
As a public commentator, he has authored columns and appeared on programs for Radikal, Referans, Oksijen, Independent Türkçe, Gazete Pencere, NTV, TarihTV, Ekonomi Gazetesi, and BlackSwan Finans. He previously served as international relations advisor to the Turkish Exporters Assembly and on the advisory board of the Turkish-American Business Council.
Prof. Han has participated in NATO Parliamentary Assembly sessions, NATO observation missions in Afghanistan, and has designed and managed crisis management, counterterrorism, and strategic management programs for international organizations and governments.
Through his work, Prof. Han combines academic research, policy insight, and practical experience to contribute to global dialogue, public discourse, and the development of international business and intercultural understanding.
